ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League-leading Powassan Voodoos wrapped up the 2019 portion of their regular season in style Friday as they went on to out score the Elliot Lake Wildcats 14-5 at Centennial Arena.
A flurry of activity in the opening 20 minutes saw the two clubs combine for eight goals that saw four apiece collected.
Gregory Trudeau-Paquet had two for the Voodoos while Tomas Yachmenev and Noah Brant supplied singles.
Getting markers for the Wildcats in the session were Kelvin Albert, Connor Taylor, Joshua Armstrong and Nicholas Jameus.
It was all Powassan in the middle session as they outscore Elliot Lake by five.
Trudeau-Paquet finished off a hat trick while Brett Shawana tacked one two with Ryan Mills and Sam Ellwodd getting into the act.
In the third, Armstrong added another for the Wildcats before the Voodoos put it away when Yachmenev, Brant, Parker Bowman, James Orr and Jackson Buffam all finding the back of the net.
The goals for Orr and Buffam were their first NOJHL markers.
Owen Say picked up the win in relief for Powassan as he made 13 saves on 15 chances in just under 46 minutes of work while Luke Greenwood stopped 20 of 23.
Elliot Lake netminder Jonathan Lemaire was peppered with 95 attempts in defeat.
